Caroline Martin is an award-winning Chartered Architect with more than 30 years-experience in the architectural sector.

In 2025, after 2 years of searching, Caroline and her husband Jeremy, bought a 4-acre site in Wiltshire where they hoped to undertake their own self-build project. Unusually for a self-build project, their scheme is for 9 dwellings, 3 self-build plots (for intergenerational living) with an additional 6 development plots to help finance the Self-Build.

The scheme was submitted for Full Planning in April 2026 and is currently under consideration.

Using her first-hand experience as a self-builder & years spent helping Clients create their Dream Homes, Caroline is eager to support other Self-Builders so has launched ‘Your Self-Build Success!’

As the lead architect on new builds and conversions, Caroline has developed a deep understanding of the practicalities involved in managing projects from initial concept design to completion.

Passionate about her work, Caroline listens closely to her clients, ensuring each design thoughtfully responds to what truly matters to them, including the wider community, culture, environment, materials, technology, and budget.

Caroline’s design process is creative and adaptive, drawing on her extensive knowledge and experience rather than adhering to a fixed formula or house style. She is equally comfortable with contemporary or traditional designs and can take projects from hand-drawn sketches to completion on site.

In 2014, after 17 years working for a medium-sized commercial practice, Caroline founded Cox Martin Design,where she works with a team of 6 freelancers on one-off homes, small bespoke residential developments, residential care homes & community buildings.
